Jazz at Lincoln Center presents Queen Esther sings Billie Holiday: The Lost Classics January 2, 2019 TWO SETS  7:30pm and 9:30pm COVER: $35 Students: $20 Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at Lincoln Center Broadway at 60th St. 5th Fl New York City Reserve by phone 212-258-9595 In person after 6pm daily at the club With rare sides lifted from The Billie Holiday Project – a musical written and developed by Queen Esther that augments newly unearthed short stories from Zora Neale Hurston with an explosive score culled from the iconic jazz siren’s work — Queen Esther and her coterie of musicians breathe life into the more relatively unknown yet timeless songs of Miss Holiday. By allowing these songs to stand on their own in performance and speak to us and through us, the audience as well as the performers will explore a relatively unknown side of Lady Day. Songs include If The Moon Turns Green, You Can’t Be Mine (and Someone Else’s Too) and Things Are Looking Up. The line-up: Sharp Radway – piano Hilliard Greene – double bass Jeff McLaughlin — guitar Darren Green – drums
