The 5th Annual New York Hot Jazz Festival! PLEASE NOTE: Queen Esther performs with Charlie Halloran’s Sextet at Gallow Green, 4:20pm Join us for the 6th annual New York Hot Jazz Festival. After yet another sold out edition, the hot jazz and swing party of the year returns to the spellbinding McKittrick Hotel and once again features three stages (one of them hidden on a mystery train) with continuous live music from 16 ensembles and multiple special guest artists for 12 hours. The Fest will feature NOLA-style Second Line parade to commemorate the tricentennial of Crescent City, Antique Gramophone DJ, and a raucous Midnight Speakeasy after party with the Fest’s storied jam as well as dancers and performance art acts to cap the night’s festivities. Celebrating trad jazz with rising stars and legendary performers, the Fest will showcase the best talent of the global hot jazz and swing revival with the music spanning the entire breadth and scope of early jazz from the beginnings in New Orleans through the Roaring ’20s and Prohibition and well into the Big Band Swing era. Prizes await those who deck themselves in their vintage best. So dress to impress and get ready to party your night away! Dancing is encouraged and inevitably irresistible. Shanghai Mermaid presents Music & Moonlight on the Hudson featuring Queen Esther & The Hot Five For tickets, click here! you are invited to join us as we take a moonlight cruise on the hudson river  with the majestic manhattan skyline as our backdrop. let us ‘shanghai’ you, and take you hostage for a night of music, glamour and romance. the party will be on the clipper city tall ship, a pre-civil war era sailboat that is 158 ft long and 120 feet in height. we’ll sail from 9pm – 11pm, though the party will start on the dock at 8:15pm with the band’s first set. i so hope you    can join us for a lovely evening of music and moonlight. dressy and/or vintage attire is highly suggested, and no casual attire is requested. you’ll have more fun if you dress up! the weather is supposed to be grand, and the views of the statue of  liberty and the city will be breathtaking. Saturday, August 4th 11am – 5pm Glen Foerd Riverfront Estate 5001 Grant Ave. Featuring music and dance from: Michael Arenella and his Dreamland Orchestra Drew Nugent and The Midnight Society Queen Esther & Her Quartette The Dreamland Follies The Fishtown Footers Glen Foerd is a public park where people of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to enjoy a rich natural landscape, historic buildings and impressive art collection surrounded by a grand, intact 19th century estate. The site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Historic American Landscape Survey. Glen Foerd is the last Delaware River estate in Philadelphia open to the public. In addition to the Gilded Age mansion, other historic structures on the property include a boathouse, garden house, cottage, gatehouse, observation tower, and carriage house. The 30,000 square foot mansion includes an art gallery and rathskellar.

After the first edition of our sold-out extravaganza at the Symphony Space last year we wanted to bring you a more intimate, transporting concert/party experiences as we take over a gorgeous, hidden vaudeville house – the Triad Ballroom – to create a one of a kind, New-York-style, retro-nouveau New Orleans hot jazz experience. The Big Easy On The Hudson series serve as a bridge connecting the Big Easy of yesteryear with the Big Apple of today and bring together great artists on the forefront of hot jazz scenes of the two “Big” cities. This year’s headlining NOLA star bringing you a program of sizzling New Orleans’ hot jazz is the brilliant trombone player / band leader Charlie Halloran with his band.  Mahogany Hall Pleasure Society Jazz Band’s leader, the phenomenal Jon-Erik Kellso, will be joining our NOLA guests as a representative of New York hot jazz world. The blowout Summer evening will also feature a constellation of special star guests including international tap dance sensation DeWitt Fleming Jr, early blues royalty, Queen Esther, and yet another royal, New Orleans’ own queen of burlesque, Perle Noire.
